Abstract
The study was carried out to identify the training needs of dairy farmers in Banda District of Uttar Pradesh. Data was collected during 2019-2020 through personal interview method using semi structured schedule. Multi stage random sampling technique was adopted for the study with the Ex-Post Facto research design. District Banda falls under Bundelkhand agro climatic zone of Uttar Pradesh. From Badokhar Khurd & Tindwari blocks, four villages were selected randomly from each block and 20 Dairy farmers were selected from each village making the total sample size of 160 respondents. The study reveals that majority of respondents were from middle age group within the range of 34-54 years and were having low level education. It was observed that maximum respondents had marginal land holding type with medium level of annual income i.e. 1 lakh to 3. It was reported from the study that majority of the respondents had joint and large family with Kaccha housing pattern. Most of the respondents were involved in dairy & wage earning with medium level of herd size (3-5). It is reported from the study that majority of the respondents shown medium extent of mass media utilization & low level of social participation. It was also observed that majority of the respondents pointed health care as their first preference for their training. The computed correlation coefficient of age and caste was negatively significant. While education, land holding, occupation, annual income, social participation, training undergone and mass media utilization was positively significant with training need of dairy Farmers. Respondents perceived that distant location of veterinary health centers' was the most important constraints followed by lack of knowledge about balanced feeding. So from the study we conclude that dairy farmers of Banda district had poor resources & knowledge about scientific practices regarding health and feeding. So, the results of the study will help the extension agencies to develop suitable training modules for the dairy farmers for increasing the livestock productivity and improving the living standards of the farmers.
