Abstract
The present investigation was undertaken with the object of assessing genetic diversity in Greengram genotypes, Varietal characterization and to study variability at molecular level. Seven primers were used for the study which generated 55 RAPD amplification products among 15 greengram varieties. The size of amplification products ranged from 225 bp (UBC-1 7 6) to 6000 bp (OPF-07). Out of 55 bands 21 bands were polymorphic (37.16 per cent) while 34 bands were monomorphic (62.15 per cent). The number of RAPD amplicon products, ranged from 11 (OPF -07) to 6 bands (UBC-17 6) per cent with an average 3 polymorphic band per primers. Primer (OPF-07) and (OPG-03) were I?OSt informative primers and distinguish all the 15 varieties. The variety BPMR 75 represented highest average similarity coefficient value 0.766. While variety BM 2004 represented lower average similarity coeffici~nt value 0.660. Varieties BPMR 75 and BPMR 207 genotypes showed high similarity of 95 per cent. Varieties BM 2004 and BM 2003 were most diverse with similarity (66%).
