Abstract
The distribution system is a vital part of power system as they provide demanded power to the consumers. The distribution network reconfiguration is a realtime operation for optimizing the arrangement of the distribution network. The distribution network reconfiguration is a great step for the evolution of distribution system automation. The necessity for flexible electric power systems, changing economic and regulatory environment, extensive depletion of fossil fuels and increasing cost of transmission and distribution expansion are providing impetus to the integration of Distributed Generation (DG) in the distribution systems. India lies in the sunny belt of the world. The solar radiation incident over India is equal to 4-7 kW Hr / m2. It has average 250-300 clear sunny days and 2300-3200 hours of sunshine per year. Therefore, addition of SPV system is advantageous in its own way. But many issues are related to which have to be considered. The distribution network reconfiguration is a good solution to those problems. In this study, the Simulated Annealing Weight Particle Swarm Optimization based network reconfiguration strategy has been developed with an objective to minimize system losses and enhance the overall reliability of the system. The problem is simulated within line capacity and voltage limit constraints and the algorithm has been successfully implemented. Cases studies for different weight factors associated with loss component and system reliability component are also simulated as a part of this study and the percentage of loss minimization is also calculated which shows that the reduction in line losses will lead to the better voltage profile and also the voltage profiles are shown in the graphical format to make it more clear. The reconfigured networks are also pictured to have a clear understanding of the open switches in the new topology of the system. The penetration levels are presented for different cases in the research work to show the maximization of the integrated solar power. The yearly variation in voltage profile due to change in the solar irradiance and temperature are also presented
