Abstract
The present study was undertaken to find out awareness, knowledge and adoption of technologies promoted under All India Coordinated Research Project on Home Science among rural women and constraints faced by them in adoption of technologies. The study was conducted in Badgoan panchayat samiti of Udaipur district of Rajasthan state. From the panchayat samiti, five villages where the technologies have been promoted by the AICRP since last five years were included in the study. The sample consisted of 100 rural women, 20 from each village. Personal interview technique was used for data collection. Frequency, percentage and mean percent score were used for analysis of the data. The profile of the respondents revealed that majority of the respondents (60%) were in the age group of 31-45 years, belonged to OBC caste category (45%), were educated (70%), had agriculture as main family occupation (70%) and belonged to nuclear family (60%). Majority of the respondents (65%) were small and marginal farmers and belonged to low socio-economic status (60%). The finding of the study revealed that the respondents had good awareness about the technologies promoted under AICRP on Home science with overall mean percent awareness score 72.71.Similarly majority of the respondents (60%) belonged to average knowledge category with overall mean percent knowledge score 59.44.The respondents scored highest in component vegetable preservation (75.47 MPS), safe drinking water (74.66 MPS) and user friendly storage practices (70.37 MPS). 2 Regarding adoption of technologies, majority of the respondents were found in medium adoption category with overall adoption index 53.05 per cent. Adoption was found highest in component low cost nutritious recipes (81.50 MPS) followed by water sanitation (75.11MPS) and user friendly storage practices (62.00 MPS), Least adoption was found in components vermicompost (12.50 MPS), printing and dyeing (1.67 MPS) and herbal gulal (1.0 MPS). The major constraints faced by the respondents in adoption of technologies were lack of time, lack of knowledge, non-availability of printed literature such as pamphlets, folders etc. on specific technology & inability to contact extension personnel at the time of need.
