Abstract
field experiment was conducted during kharif- 2018 at Agricultural Research Station, Gangavathi, University of Agricultural Sciences, Raichur, Karnataka to study the efficacy of post emergence herbicide in transplanted rice. The experiment was laid out in a Randomized Block Design with 3 replications and comprised of 12 treatments. Among the herbicides, pendimethalin 38.7 % CS @ 680 g a.i/ha as PE fb bispyribac sodium 10 % SC @ 25 g a.i/ha recorded lower weed count, weed dry weight, weed index ((22.67, 3.81 g / 0.25 m2 and 7.81 %, respectively) and higher weed control efficiency (85.78%) at harvest. Of all the treatments, the highest growth parameters viz; number of tillers m-2, LAI and dry matter production plant-1 were recorded under weed free check. Similarly, the highest number of panicles m-2 (323), grains panicle-1 (231), test weight (21.17 g), grain (5415 kg ha-1) and straw (5783 kg ha-1) yields were recorded with weed free check which was on par with pendimethalin 38.7% CS @ 680 g a.i/ha as PE fb bispyribac sodium 10% SC @ 25 g a.i/ha (317, 221, 18.89 g, 4990 kg ha-1 and 5433 kg ha-1, respectively) followed by bispyribac sodium 2%+ 2,4-D sodium salt 54.3% SP @ (25+678.75) g a.i/ha with adjuvant @ 625 ml/ha (312, 211,18.78 g, 4922 kg ha-1 and 5372 kg ha-1, respectively) compared to unweeded control (209,122, 17.02 g, 2137 kg ha-1 and 2713 kg ha-1, respectively). Significantly higher removal of NPK by weeds (11.13, 3.24 and 3.51 kg ha-1, respectively) was recorded with weedy check when compared to weed free control (0.45, 0.11 and 0.15 kg ha-1, respectively). However, the benefit cost ratio was significantly higher with bispyribac sodium 2%+ 2,4-D sodium salt 54.3% SP @ (25+678.75) g a.i/ha with alonge adjuvant @ 625 ml/ha (2.62) as compared to weed free control (2.47). Similarly, lowest B:C ratio was noticed in unweeded check (1.20).
