Abstract
The study was conducted to compare the outcome of Deep Anterior Lamellar Keratoplasty (DALK) with the conventional treatment techniques for anterior corneal pathologies in dogs. The cases presented to the Small Animal Ophthalmology Unit of Madras Veterinary College – Teaching Hospital which were diagnosed with corneal pathologies and anterior corneal affections (pathologies of corneal epithelium and stroma) with a normal endothelium were chosen for the study. This was based on routine physical examination and detailed ophthalmic examination with indirect ophthalmoscope, slit lamp, diagnostic tests like Fluorescein dye test and B-scan of eye. A total of 12 cases were selected and divided into two groups each consisting of 6 cases viz., Group-I; conventional therapy and Group-II; DALK.
