Abstract
A study entitled “Effect of different dates of sowing and irrigation levels on growth, yield attributes and economics of Chandrasur (Lepidium sativum L.)” was executed at Herbal Garden at I.G.K.V., Raipur (C.G.) during Rabi, 2018-19 to find out the suitable date and irrigation levels of Chandrasur. The trial was carried out in strip plot design with three replicate. 3 dates of sowing viz., D1 (30th October), D2 (15th November) and D3 (30th November) three irrigation levels i.e. I1 (One irrigation at 25 DAS), I2 (Two irrigations at 25 and 50 DAS), and I3 (Three irrigations at 25, 50 and 75 DAS) was taken. Physico-chemical properties of clay-loam soil in the experimental field has low in N (183.58 kg ha-1) low in P2O5 (11.87 kg ha-1) and medium in K2O (167.32 kg ha-1) and soil pH was normal i.e.7.6. The recommended dose of fertilizer was 60:50:30 kg NPK ha-1 for chandrasur. At the time of sowing full dose of phosphorus and potash was applied as basal and nitrogen applied in two splits. Half dose of nitrogen was applied as basal dose and half was applied after first irrigation. The growth parameters i.e. plant height, no. of branch, number of leaves plant, DMA and yield attributes i.e number of seed siliqua-1, number of siliquae plant -1, 1000 seeds weight, harvest index, grain and stover yield (19.12 and 22.48 q ha-1) and B:C ratio (1.80) was recorded maximum with 30th October and it was par with 15 Nov. In case of irrigation levels, produced maximum growth characters, dry matter accumulation seed yield (18.52 qha-1) and stover yield (21.28 qha-1) and B:C ration (1.59) was maximum in I3 (25,50 and 75 DAS) and it was at par with I2 (25 and 50 DAS). Maximum seed yield was recorded maximum (22.08) in D1 (30 Oct) with three irrigation level I3(25, 50 and 75 DAS).
