Abstract
The presentxresearch, entitled "Effect of foliar and soil application of zinc on productivity and quality of Lathyrus (Lathyrus sativum L.)" was conducted during the 2018-19 rabi season at the Instructional cum Research Farm, IndiracGandhi Krishi Vishwavidhyalaya, Raipur, Chhattisgarh, with the objective of evaluating the effect of foliar and soil application of zinc on growth and yield of lathyrus. The experimental field soil was vertisols with reaction weak, medium, and strong in N, P, and K, respectively, and neutral. The Region's atmosphere is sub-humid to semi-arid. The design was carried out in RandomizedbBlock Design with seven treatments and three replications together. Three basal applications, two foliar spray and one seed treatment were used for the procedure. The experiment was comprised of T1 : RDF 100% (N:P2O5: K2O and S - 20:50:20:20 kg ha-1 + PSB + Rhizobium), T2 : RDF 100 % + ZnSO4 @ 15 kg ha-1 as)basal application, T3 : RDF 100 % + ZnSO4 @ 20 kg ha-1 as(basal application, T4 : RDF 100 % + ZnSO4 @ 25 kg ha-1 as!basal application, T5 : RDF 100 % + ZnSO4 @ 0.5% foliar spray at pre Flowering, T6 : RDF 100 % + ZnSO4 @ 0.5% foliar spray at pre flowering and pod initiation, T7 : RDF 100 % + Seed priming with 0.05% Zinc solution W/w soaked for six hours. Lathyrus (Lathyrus sativus L.) variety prateek was sown on 9th November, 2018 with a seed rate of 60 kg ha-1. The crop was harvested on 15th March 2019. Result indicated that among foliar and soil application of zinc, Treatment T4: RDF 100 % + ZnSO4 @ 25 kg ha-1 as basal application produced higher growth character, yield attribute and seed yield (1589 kgqha-1) higher nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium andezinc uptake in seed and stover, but it was comparable with T3: RDF 100 % + ZnSO4 @ 20 kgrha-1 as basaltapplication and T6: RDF 100 % + ZnSO4 @ 0.5% as foliar spray at pre-flowering and pod initiation. Maximum gross realization (Rs.uha-1 35149), net realization (Rs.yha-1 18464) and highest iB:c ratio (2.10) was recorded with treatment T4: RDF 100 % + ZnSO4 @ 25 kgoha-1 as basal application followednby T3: RDF 100 % + ZnSO4 @ 20 kgxha-1 as basalzapplication and T6: RDF 100 % + ZnSO4 @ 0.5% foliar spray at pre flowering and pod initiation
