“EFFECT OF PLANT GROWTH REGULATORS AND BIOEFFECTORS ON GROWTH, FLOWERING AND POSTHARVEST VASE LIFE OF CUT GERBERA (Gerbera jamesonii Cv. NATASHA GROWN UNDER POLYHOUSE CONDITIONS”

Abstract
The present investigation entitled ―Effect of plant growth regulators and bioeffectors on growth, flowering and postharvest vase life of cut Gerbera (Gerbera jamesonii Bolus ex. Hook) Cv. Natasha grown under polyhouse conditions‖ was conducted at College of Horticulture, Mojerla, Wanaparthy (Dist) in the year 2017- 18. Thirteen treatments were tried with three replications using RBD as experimental design. Thirteen treatments consisted of three concentrations each of GA3, SA, HA, TRIA and a control. The crop was sprayed with the plant growth regulators and bioeffectors at 30 and 60 DAT. Among the treatments, GA3 at 150 ppm recorded maximum plant height at both first flower appearance (30.56 cm) and flower harvesting stage (34.32 cm), plant spread in East –West (39.16 cm) and North – South (45.78 cm) as well as maximum number of leaves (23.87), suckers (5.07), leaf area (133.84 cm2 ) and minimum number of days taken to first flower opening. GA3 at 150 ppm also recorded improved flower parameters like maximum number of flowers per plant (12.19), maximum flower diameter (12.19 cm), maximum length of the flower stalk (56.24 cm), maximum number of ray florets (58.76), maximum fresh weight (39.4 g) dry weight (12.89 g) of the flower and B:C ratio (2.46). SA 100 ppm recorded for minimum number of days taken to first flower bud appearance (39.64 days) and maximum stalk flower diameter (6.59 cm) while the least was recorded in control. Maximum water balance (1.39), minimum scape bending curvature (9.33°) and longest vaselife (8.00) was recorded in SA 200 ppm.
