Abstract
The” experiment entitled “Variability and association studies for yield components in Drumstick (Moringa oleifera Lam.)” was carried out during 2018-19 at Research farm of Pt. K.L.S. College of Horticulture and Research Station, Rajnandgaon (C.G.). The” research was carried out in Randomized” Complete” Block Design (RBD) involving 20 “genotypes (19 germplasm and one Check viz. PKM-1) of drumstick with three replication for” estimation of genetic parameters, correlation” coefficient analysis and path analysis in drumstick. Mean” sum”” of “squares analysis””of variance revealed that genotypes were significant” used for” every “trait “indicating existence of sufficient””variability” among” a genotypes. In present” investigation M-8, M-12, and M-20 was superior among all the genotypes for most of the quantitative character viz. plant” height as well as number” of branches” per” plant, length” of leaves in rachis, length of leaves, number “of leaves per rachis, stem girth, pod” weight and per. plant ‘yield etc. can be utilized for multiplication trials in different location in Chhattisgarh. High heritability” percentage level with “high genetic “advance percentage as proportion of “mean was initiate for plant” height, leaves length, per plant in number” of “branches, number of” flower” per” inflorescence, and stem” girth indicated that the majority of additive” gene action in the appearance” of these trait which” might be utilize throughout” selection for development” of these trait. Association studies revealed that yield” per plant showed the highest “significant positive association” with number of leaves” per rachis, number “of pods per” plant, stem” girth and leave” length at genotypic and phenotypic”” levels. Hence, direct selection” for” these” character ” could be lead” to “the genotypes” of drumstick for development of high yielding.”………………. Path coefficient analysis revealed that the number” of branches per plant, leaves length, stem girth, “length of “pod, “pod girth, and “pod” weight” showed highest positive direct effects together with strong” positive association with yield per plant .
