Abstract
A field experiment was conducted at Institutional Farm, Rajasthan College ofAgriculture, Udaipur, (Rajasthan) during kharif, 2018 on clay loam soil, To study the “Effect of Fertility Levels and Enriched Compost on Productivity of Soybean (Glycine max L. Merrill)”.The experiment was laid out according to factorial randomized block design with three replications. The experiment comprised three fertility levels of (control, 50% RDF and 100% RDF) and four enriched compost levels (control, 2 t ha-1, 4t ha-1 and 6t ha-1 enriched compost) were applied to the soybean var. JS-9560. The soil of the experimental site wasclay loam in texture, slightly alkaline in reaction (pH 8.1), medium in available nitrogen (270.84 kg ha-1) and phosphorus (18.52 kg ha-1) while high in available potassium (390.14 kg ha-1) and deficient in available iron (3.64 mg kg-1) and zinc (0.90 mg kg-1). While sufficient in available manganese (3.42 mg kg-1) and copper (2.44 mg kg-1). The main findings of investigation are summarized as: The application of fertility levels significantly increased the plant height, dry matter accumulation, number of pods plant-1, number of seeds pod-1, grain and straw yield, N, P content and uptake by seed and straw and net return with the application of 100% RDF. The increase in test weight and K content and uptake by grain and straw were found non-significant. The organic carbon, available nitrogen, phosphorus,microbial population and enzymatic activity increases significantly with the application of fertility levels in soil after harvest of the crop, but EC, pH, available potassium and micronutrient (Zn, Fe, Cu and Mn) remain non-significant. * M.Sc. The maximum plant height, dry matter accumulation, number of pods plant-1, number of seeds pod-1, grain and straw yield, N, P and K content and uptake by grain of soybean were recorded by the application of 6 t ha-1 enriched compost, but it found statistically at par with 4 t ha-1 enriched compost. The potassium content and uptake by straw in soybean, organic carbon, available nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, copper, zinc, iron, manganese, microbial population and enzymatic activity in soil after harvest of crop is significantly increase up to 6 t ha-1, but available potassium found at par with 4 tenriched compost. Whereas, the effect on pH and EC were found to be nonsignificant with the application of enriched compost after harvest of the crop. Interaction effect of fertility levels and enriched compost were significantly influenced number of pod plant-1, grain yield, available phosphorus and alkaline phosphatase activity in soil after harvest of crop. The combined application of fertility level and enriched compost (100% RDF and 4 t ha-1 enriched compost) was more beneficial for increasing seed yield (1997.98 kg ha- 1), net return (53813` ha-1) and benefit cost ratio (2.21) of soybean crop as compared to their individual application andother combinations.
