Abstract
Field experiment was conducted during kharif season of 2018 at Research farm, Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Parbhani to assess the response of spinach crop to various zinc solubilizers and graded levels of zinc. Experiment consists of sixteen treatments in which four zinc solubilizers (Pseudomonas striata, Bacillus megaterium, Trichoderma viride and Control) and four graded levels of ZnSO4 (0, 10, 20 and 30 kg ZnSO4 ha-1 respectively) were used in factorial randomized block design. Seed treatment of spinach was done with zinc solubilizing microbial cultures and application of zinc in graded doses at the time of sowing with recommended dose of fertilizers. Significant effect of zinc solubilizing culture particularly Psuedomonas striata and levels of zinc upto 30 kg ZnSO4 ha-1 was noted on plant height, number of leaves per plant, dry matter yield per plant and leaf area index over other treatments. Significantly higher dry weight and fresh weight yield of spinach was noted with Psuedomonas striata + 30 kg ZnSO4 ha-1. The pH, EC, organic carbon and calcium carbonate after harvest of spinach indicates non – significant interactive results. Significantly highest values of available N, P2O5, K2O and S were noted in treatment receiving Psuedomonas striata + 30 kg ZnSO4 ha-1 interaction. DTPA Zn, Fe, Mn and Cu were noted maximum in treatment receiving Psuedomonas striata + 30 kg ZnSO4 ha-1 indicating soils are deficient in Fe and Zn. The content and uptake of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and micronutrients (Zn, Fe, Mn and Cu) in spinach was enhanced significantly with Psuedomonas striata + 30 kg ZnSO4 ha-1 interaction over rest of the treatments. The quality attributes improved significantly with inoculation of Psuedomonas striata + 30 kg ZnSO4 ha-1. Maximum values of acid and alkaline phosphatase were noted in inoculation of Psuedomonas striata + 30 kg ZnSO4 ha-1. The highest bacterial and actinomycetes population registered in inoculation of Psuedomonas striata + 30 kg ZnSO4 ha-1 and maximum fungal population was noted with Trichoderma viride + 30 kg ZnSO4 ha-1 over control.
