Abstract
'I he present study on genetic divergence and combining ability in Desi cott\lll "'as conducted during the year 2001-02 to 2003-04 at Cotton Rcsl.!nn.:h tation. Yiramgam and Dry-farming Research Station, Dhanclhul-.a or erstwhile Gujarat Agricultural University. Sixty genotypes of A!> iatic cotton (Fifty two of Gossypium herbaceum and eight of Go.\\YfJit/111 urboreum) were used to study the genetic divergence us ing 1ahalanobis' D2 statistics. Ten parents were selected based upon 0 2 n dues and crosses in a ll poss ible combinations (excluding reciprocal s) prepared. The experiments were conducted in randomized compktc block design with three replications keeping the distance betV\ ccn J\l\\ s and plants as 120 em and 30 em respectively.
