Abstract
The present investigation was conducted during March, 2016 to January, 2018, at Model Floriculture Centre, Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with seven treatments replicated thrice. The water soluble fertilizer, straight fertilizers and their combinations were used which were applied through drip system and soil application. The treatments used were 75 per cent of RDF using WSF (T1), 100 per cent of RDF using WSF (T2), 125 per cent of RDF using WSF (T3), 75 per cent RDF + 25 % RDF using straight fertilizer (T4), 50 per cent of RDF using WSF + 50 per cent of RDF using straight fertilizer (T5), 25 per cent of RDF using WSF + 75 per cent of RDF using straight fertilizer (T6) and 100 per cent of RDF using straight fertilizer (T7 i.e. control). Significant differences were recorded among the treatments for most of the characters in both the years as well as in pooled data. The treatment T3 (125 per cent of RDF using WSF) had maximum plant height (31.70 cm) and number of leaves (42.82). The treatment T1 (75 per cent of RDF using WSF) recorded earliest in spike emergence (87.70 days), took minimum days to first floret opening (20.07 days) from initiation of spike and maximum days to 50 per cent flowering from first floret opening (11.55 days). The total number of florets (43.30) were reported maximum in T1 treatment. Also the total duration of flowering (17.32 days) calculated from first floret opening till 50 cent floret withering was maximum in T1 treatment. It also yielded longest rachis length (55.60 cm), spike length (89.30 cm) and maximum number of spike per plant (6.30) and maximum spike weight (132.83 g). The treatment T3 had produced maximum number of bulbs per plant (309.87 g) and recorded maximum length (6.65 cm) and diameter of bulb (26.42 mm).
