Abstract
The lmowledge of Genotype x Environment (G x E) intenction is of major
concerned in plant breeding research in developing improved varieties. When
genotypes are tested over a series of environments, the relative ranking of these
genotypes for any given character is rarely the same at each environment. These are
due to the existence of G x E interaction. Number of statistical methods have been
developed to analyse G x E interaction and thereby to evaluate phenotypic stability
of genotypes. The literature on stability .analysis of genotypes of various crops tested
over space and time is available in plenty. But such information is very scanty for
pearl millet, being dominant crop for summer season in Gujarat. The present study,
therefore, was under taken to search high yielding and stable genotypes for this crop.
The nine genotypes of pearl millet were tested at five different environments viz.,
Deesa(E1), Vijapur(E2), Sardarkrushinagar(E3), Anand(E4) and Jamnagar(E5) during
the summer season of the years 2001 and 2002.
