Abstract
A field experiment entitled “Bio-efficacy of Broad Spectrum Herbicides and their Effect on Productivity of Soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merill]” was conducted at Instructional Farm, Rajasthan College of Agriculture, Udaipur during kharif, 2017 with the objective to find out the suitable method of weed control in soybean. The experiment comprised of 9 treatment combinations i.e. weedy check, imazethapyr 100 g/ha POE 15 DAS, pendimethalin 1000 g/ha PE, quizalofop 75 g/ha POE 15 DAS, propaquizafop 100 g/ha POE 15 DAS, imazethapyr + imazamox (RM) 70 g/ha POE 15 DAS,imazethapyr + pendimethalin (RM) 1000 g/ha PE, imazethapyr 75 g/ha POE + quizalofop 60 g/ha POE 21 DAS (TM) and imazethapyr 75 g/ ha + propaquizafop 75 g/ha POE 21 DAS (TM) was replicated thrice in randomized block design. The results showed that weed control methods markedly reduced crop-weed competition. The experimental data revealed that application of imazethapyr + pendimethalin (RM) as PRE recorded minimum weed density of monocots, dicots and total weeds (2.78, 1.59 and 3.13/m2, respectively) as compared to rest of the treatments. All the weed control treatments were also found significantly superior in reducing dry matter of monocot; dicot and total weeds compared to weedy check at 60 DAS. At 30 and 60 DAS, minimum dry matter of both monocot and dicot weeds were recorded under application of imazethapyr + pendimethalin. Maximum weed control efficiency of monocot, dicot and total weeds was observed with imazethapyr + pendimethalin. Uptake of N and P by weeds at harvest was found significantly lower with all the weed control treatments compared to weedy check. The minimum uptake of N and P by weeds was recorded underimazethapyr + pendimethalin. * M.Sc. Scholar, Department of Agronomy, Rajasthan College of Agriculture, Udaipur ** Assistant Professor, Department of Agronomy, Rajasthan College of Agriculture, Udaipur Imazethapyr + pendimethalinas POE recorded the maximum plant height (47.67 cm) and plant dry matter (58.78 g/plant) at harvest. Application of imazethapyr + pendimethalin recorded maximum number of branches/plant, number of pods/plant, pod length and test weight. The maximum seed (1730 kg/ha) and haulm yield (2182 kg/ha) of soybean was recorded significantly withimazethapyr + pendimethalinover all other weed control treatments.Alike, seed and haulm yield, biological yield (3912 kg/ha) was also recorded maximum underimazethapyr + pendimethalin. The highest protein content (40.47 per cent) was recorded under the application ofimazethapyr + pendimethalin. The maximum uptake of total nitrogen (148.38 kg/ha) and phosphorus (16.07 kg/ha) by the soybean was significantly more inimazethapyr + pendimethalin. Both net return ( 41427/ha) and benefit cost ratio (1.89) were also obtained maximum withimazethapyr + pendimethalin.
