Abstract
Cancer is the uncontrolled growth of cells, which is one of the major causes of death both in human beings and animals. Malignant tumors invade to other tissues and form secondary tumors, called as metastasis. For metastasizing, tumor cells detach from primary tumor and enter into circulation. These cells in circulation are called as circulating tumor cells (CTCs). They can serve good diagnostic tool for tumor diagnosis and prognosis. Even though lot of techniques available for diagnosing tumor by detecting CTCs, they are expensive and cumbersome. The present study was designed to find and validate a suitable transparent material, which can bind antibodies and thereby capture cancer cells for visualizing under fluorescent microscope.
