Abstract
Haemonchus cantorlus, bloodsucking parasite, occurs in the abomasal mucosa and its contents in sheep, goats, cattle and numerous other ruminants, and is cosmopolitan especially in areas with hot, moist climate (Sood 1981). Development of anthelmintic resistance to this parasite is a major problem (Yadav 1990, Uppal et al. 1991, Yadav and Uppal 1992, Prichard 1994, Singh et al. 1995). Ivermectin, a GABA agonist acts either at the GABA binding site or elsewhere on the protein and cause flaccid paralysis of the worms. This paper provides the information on the efficacy of ivermectin in fenbendazole resistant H. contortus in sheep and goats.
