Abstract
India is endowed with the largest livestock wealth in the world particularly small ruminants Sheep and goat are considered to be the wealth of the poor and hence their role in poverty alleviation, income and employment generation is of significant importance, more so, in dry land farming system, as they can thrive under any adverse climatic conditions. The contribution of Sheep and goat meat, skin, wool, milk and many more commodities to the country’s economy is 5.4 % of the GNP of agriculture sector.
