Abstract
A forty five day old, male Labrador retriever was presented to the Clinics, Madras Veterinary College with severe respiratory distress, lethargic, coughing and abdominal distention. A high grade murmur, muffled heart sounds and diminished breath sounds observed upon auscultation of chest. ECG revealed deep Q wave and tall R wave, ventricular tachycardia. Chest radiographic findings were enlargement size of the heart and moderate effusions in the pleural space. 2D and M-mode echocardiographic changes were severe reduction of fraction shortening (13%) and elevated LA/Ao ratio. Present case of Juvenile Dilated Cardiomyopathy is a rare occurrence may be due to genetical predis-position.
