Abstract
The present investigation “Evaluation of Ground Water Quality and its Effect on Soils of Bhopalgarh Tehsil, Jodhpur (Rajasthan)” was undertaken to evaluate the quality of ground water and its effect on physical, chemical and biological properties of soils. Sixty georeferenced ground water samples along with respective irrigated and unirrigated soil samples were collected. Based on EC, SAR and RSC ground waters were classified into six categories viz: good (21.66 per cent), marginally saline (15 per cent), high SAR saline (48.33 per cent), marginally alkali (8.33 per cent), alkali (3.33 per cent), highly alkali (3.33 per cent) and it was found that majority of ground waters of the studied area are not suitable for irrigation of sensitive crops.
