Abstract
The present study "Evaluation of date palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.) cultivars and their response for in vitro propagation" was conducted at Date palm Research Centre, Swami Keshwanand Rajasthan Agricultural University and Central Institute for Arid Horticulture, Bikaner during the year 2010-12. In this investigation, eight cultivars (Shamran, Khuneizi, Khalas, Barhee, Halawy, Khadrawy, Nagal and Zahidi) are evaluated for vegetative growth characteristics, bunch parameters, timings of spathe initiation and physico-chemical parameters while ten cultivars (Zagloul, Shamran, Khuneizi, Khalas, Barhee, Halawy, Khadrawy, Nagal, Zahidi and Medjool) were studied for in-vitro response.
