Abstract
The field investigation entitled “Response of kharif maize (Zea mays L.) to micronutrients” was conducted on experimental farm of National Agricultural Research Project, Aurangabad during kharif season 2015. The experimental field was levelled and well drained. The soil was clayey in texture, low in available nitrogen, high in available phosphorus, very high in available potassium and alkaline in reaction. The environmental condition prevailed during experimental period was favourable for normal growth and maturity of maize crop. The field experiment was laid as in randomized block design with nine treatments viz. Tr RDF, T2- RDF+ZnS04, T3- RDF+FeS04, T4- RDF+Borax, T5- RDF+ZnS04+FeS04 , T6- RDF+ZnS04+Borax, Tr RDF+FeS04+Boiax, Tg- RDF+ZnS04+FeS04+Borax, T9- RDF+Foliar application of Micronutrient and replicated thrice. The gross and net plot size of each experimental unit was 5.4 m x 6.0 m and 4.2 m x 4.8 m, respectively. Sowing was done on 26 June 2015 by dibbling method. Seed treatment, pest and disease management, irrigation and fertilizer management were done as per recommendation to all treatments. The grain yield ha-1 as influenced by different treatments revealed that highest grain yield was recorded by Tg- RDF+ZnS04+FeS04+Borax (4890 kg ha'1) followed by T9- RDF+Foliar application of Micronutrient (4791 kg ha'1). The highest net monetary returns (38615 ^ ha'1) was recorded in treatment Tg- RDF+ZnS04+FeS04+Borax, The highest B: C ratio (2.30) was recorded in T9- RDF+Foliar application of Micronutrient Thus, for securing maximum grain yield and net profit maize crop should be sown by supplying recommended dose of NPK (150:75:75 kg ha'1) along with ZnS04 20 kg ha'1, FeSQ4 20 kg ha'1 and borax 5 kg ha'1.
