Abstract
The field investigation entitled “Studies on levels of inorganic fertilizers and bio-fertilizers on the growth, yield and quality of okra {Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench) Cv. Parbhani Bhendi” was conducted during Kharif season of 2014 at experimental field of Department of Horticulture, Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Parbhani with a view to find out appropriate combination of inorganic and bio-fertilizer levels to improve the growth, yield and quality of okra. The experiment was laid out in factorial randomised block design with three replication comprising three level of nitrogen (100% N, 80% N and 120% N kg ha'1 RDF) and four biofertilizer levels ( 0, 20 g Azospirillium + PSB, 30 g Azospirillium + PSB and 40 g Azospirillium + PSB kg 4 seed as seed treatment ) thereby involving twelve treatment combinations on okra Cv. Parbhani Bhendi. The gross plot size was 3.0 m x 3.0 m and net plot size 1.8 m x 2.4 m, respectively. The crop was sown by dibbling method keeping row to row spacing 60 cm and plant to plant 30 cm. The experimental crop was sown on 08th August, 2014 and all recommended cultural practices were followed. On the basis of investigation it can be concluded that an application of 100% N kg ha’1 of RDF + Azospirillium and PSB @ 30 g kg’1 seed as seed treatment found to be beneficial in producing higher growth, yield and improved its quality as compared to rest of treatments under study. Hence the treatment can be considered as the most beneficial for okra Cv. Parbhani Bhendi. For confirmation of the present results, some more trials are needed as these results are based on one season study only.
