Abstract
The present investigation was on Study of Physical Characteristics of Goats in , Aurangabad District. Where the groups were 31.25, 13.39, 7.53, 3.59 and 44.24 per cent goats for entire black and homed goats, entire black and homed goats with white spots on the ears, entire black and polled goats, entire black, polled goats with white spotted ears and Brown and white patches on body and other mixed coat colour pattern, respectively. Whereas, ear pattern recorded in the present study was 98.71 for pendulous ear and 1.29 for horizontal ear orientation. Among these goats, 81.05 per cent goats were found homed and 18.95 per cent were polled. The LSMs for HW of goats at 0-3 months of age were 38.76 + 0.24 cm, CG as 37.88 ± 0.22 cm, BL as 34.67 ± 0.29 cm, EL as 11.48 ± 0.05 cm, HL as 0.32 + 0.01 cm and for BW as 5.62 + 0.08 kg, respectively. The LSMs for HW of goats at 4-6 months of age was 50.82 ± 0.33 cm, CG as 51.77 ± 0.22 cm, BL as 48.70 + 0.34 cm, EL as 13.65 ± 0.10 cm, HL as 2.43 + 0.15 cm and for BW as 14.95 ± 0.21 kg, respectively. The LSMs for HW of goats at 7-12months of age was 59.31 ± 1.02 cm, CG as 59.94 + 0.40 cm, BL as 53.18 ± 0.69 cm, EL as 14.68 ± 0.20 cm, HL as 3.14 + 0.33 cm and for BW as 18.85 + 0.31 kg, respectively. The LSMs for HW of goats at 13-36 months of age was 68.46+ 0.44 cm, CG as 70.66 ± 0.44 cm, BL as 62.67 ± 0.36 cm, EL as 16.97 + 0.10 cm, HL as 6.94 + 0.28 cm and for BW as 29.12 + 0.46 kg. The LSMs for HW of goats above 36 months of age was 67.73 ± 0.77 cm, CG as 73.28 ± 0.47 cm, BL as 67.41 ± 0.82 cm, EL as 17.70 ± 1.05 cm, HL as 8.06 ± 0.66 cm and for BW as 31.56 ± 0.95 kg. The study of goats revealed that there is positive significant correlation between weight gain and body measurements in all age groups. It can be concluded from the study that geo-ecological situation of surveyed area and management practices followed their play importance role in phenotypic characteristics of animal.
