Abstract
A 9 months old Japanese quail revealed a yellowish
to red rm, circumscribed, well demarcated
and elevated nodule of 5 mm in diameter in the
ventral abdomen. On histopathological examination,
the cutaneous nodule revealed in ltration
of foamy macrophages with an eccentric nucleus,
multinucleated giant cells and varying degree of
lymphocytic in ltration in the dermis. A large
number of needle shaped cholesterol clefts were
also noticed. Few of heterophils and eosinophils
were scattered throughout the mass. The condition
was diagnosed as cutaneous xanthoma.
