Organic products are grown under a system of agriculture without the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides with an environmentally and socially responsible approach. This is a method of farming that works at grass root level preserving the reproductive and regenerative capacity of the soil, good plant nutrition, and sound soil management, produces nutritious food rich in vitality which has resistance to diseases. India is bestowed with lot of potential to produce all varieties of organic products due to its various agro climatic regions. In several parts of the country, the inherited tradition of organic farming is an added advantage. This holds promise for the organic producers to tap the market which is growing steadily in the domestic market related to the export market. Phosphate Rich Organic Manure (PROM) is a green chemistry phosphate fertilizer, a value-added product produced by co-compositing various organic wastes with high grade rock phosphate in fine size. A variety of organic materials such as dung, crop wastes, press mud from sugar industry, solid wastes from fruit juice industry, oil cakes, waste from wool industry etc., can be used in the process of composting. Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperation has now approved the use of PROM and included it under Fertilizer Control Order (FCO). The study entitled, “Market Analysis of PROM fertilizer in Gujarat”, was carried out for Bharat KrushiCare Consultancy based in Ahmedabad, with the following specific objectives; to study about farmers awareness towards PROM fertilizer, find out major market competitors for PROM fertilizer and promotional strategies used by them. to find iv out market potential for PROM fertilizer in selected regions of Gujarat. The study coved 25 dealers and 175Farmers. Major dealers dealing with PROM fertilizer was taken from the PROM manufacturing companies as suggested by host organization. The information was collected by direct interviewing the dealers and farmers with the help of semi structured schedules. The study revealed that major companies involved in manufacturing of PROM fertilizer i.e. Narmada Bio Chem. Pvt. Ltd. and Neptune Agrotech Pvt. Ltd. Apart from these so many local industries are also there which dealing with production and selling of PROM fertilizer. Study also revealed that Dealers and Farmers perception towards Prom fertilizer is neutral. Study indicates potential Competitors of Bharat KrushiCare consultancy Pvt. Ltd. Promotional activities used by the potential competitors and it summarize that mainly farmers meeting and demos are mainly used by the competitors. During survey it is observed that Narmada Bio Chem. has monopoly in PROM fertilizer. And since PROM fertilizer is new concept in the market mainly push view is used by the dealers for selling the product. Since Prom fertilizer is the alternate of DAP and SSP farmers are rarely prefer to use it because according to farmers PROM fertilizer not providing high yield like DAP and SSP, so it is a major constrain for PROM manufacturing industry to create awareness level about the benefit of PROM and replace DAP with PROM. Study also revealed that Pricing and quality are other major issues for companies and dealers. Because there is many local companies provides low grade quality at lower prices which affect the level of trust of farmers on PROM fertilizer. To conclude that there is a potential market for from fertilizer and using effective marketing strategies company can capture good market in Gujarat.
