Abstract
The present study was undertaken to analyze the profitability of contract and non-contract Japanese quail farmers. This study was based on the primary data collected from thirty contract and thirty non-contract Japanese quail farmers in the western zone of Tamil Nadu. The profitability of contract and non-contract Japanese quail farmers was found out by analyzing the cost and returns of their farm. It was revealed in the study that the contract Japanese quail farmers were better off in their profitability by getting the high net return from their Japanese quail farm. There was a high initial investment requirement for non-contract Japanese quail farmers than contract Japanese quail farmers. The decreased production cost but increased net return was found in both types of Japanese quail farming with the increase in farm size. The profitability analysis revealed that the benefit-cost ratio of contract Japanese quail farming was higher than that of non-contract Japanese quail farming.
