Abstract
Investigations on relative efficacy of some insecticides and plant products against major pests of soybean [Glycine max. (L.) Merill.] were carried out during kharif 2006 in the Department of Entomology, Rajasthan College of Agriculture, Udaipur. The results revealed that soybean crop in sub-humid southern plain Zone IV-a was attacked by jassid, Amrasca kerri Pruthi; whitefly, Bemisia tabaci Gennadius; tobacco caterpillar, Spodoptera litura Fab.; grey weevil, Myllocerus undecimpustulatus Faust and stem fly, Melanagromyza sojae Zehntner. The incidence of jassid, A. kerri; white fly, B. tabaci and stem fly, M. sojae initiated in the second week of August and attained their peaks in first week of September (36th standard meteorological week), in third week of September (38th standard meteorological week) and last week of August (35th standard meteorological week), respectively. While, tobacco caterpillar, S. litura and grey weevil. M. undecimpustulatus population commenced in the fourth week of August (34th standard meteorological week) and last week of August (35th standard meteorological week), respectively. Both the pests reached their peak in fourth week of September (39th standard meteorological week).
