Abstract
The present study was conducted in Raichur, Gulbarga, Bidar, Yadgir, Koppal and Bellary districts of Karnataka state during 2013-14. The KVKs coming under the Judistriction of UAS Raichur, the Raita Samparka Kendras (RSKs) of the Karnataka State Department of Agriculture and five input supply companies were selected for the study. From each of the selected organizations, thirty eight extension personnel and forty clientele were selected as the respondents for the study. The data were collected using structured interview schedule and analysed using appropriate statistical tools. The number of extension personnel available for carrying out extension activities was more (465) in case of Raita Samparka Kendras followed by private extension organizations (236) and Krishi Vigyan Kendras (38). Extension Personnel of RSKs were spending more time with clientele and were spending more amount (19.11 Rs. /ha) on extension activities compared to KVKs and private extension organizations. Majority of the extension personnel in the Krishi Vigyan Kendras belonged to medium level of satisfaction towards facilities and resources in the organization. Transfer of technology (I rank) was the important extension function addressed by the extension personnel of Krishi Vigyan Kendras and Raita Samparka Kendras. Higher proportion of Krishi Vigyan Kendras extension personnel belonged to medium information management behaviour category. Whereas major proportion of extension personnel of Raita Samparka Kendras and private extension organizations belonged to low information management behaviour category. A considerable percentage of clientele of both Krishi Vigyan Kendras and private extension organizations expressed high level of satisfaction towards the extension services provided. Access dimension of service quality was ranked first by the clientele of both the public and private extension organizations. With respect to overall organizational effectiveness, Krishi Vigyan Kendras was found to be effective with an effectiveness index of 68.07 followed by Raita Samparka Kendras (62.34) and private extension organizations (54.74).
