The average annual income of majority of pulse growers was recorded between Rs. 60,001/- to Rs. 1,50,000/-. The study reveals that the social participation of pulse growers is very low, while extension contact was found as medium level. Majority of pulse growers exhibited medium level of mass media exposures and scientific orientation. Study shows that majority of the pulse growers had not attended any type of training programme. Training needs of the majority of the pulse growers were reported under medium level. Training on plant protection, post-harvest management, marketing management, nutrient management, seed & sowing method and harvesting were identified and placed in higher preferences by the pulse growers. Age and farming experiences were found negative and significantly correlated with training needs, while education, land holdings, material possession, social participation, extension contact, mass media exposures and scientific orientation were positive and significantly correlated with training need of farmers. The majority of the respondents favoured non-institutional training. The pulse growers suggested that training programmes should be conducted during the months of September and October.
