ThesisItem Open Access Studies On Evaluation And Dilution Of Aseel Cock Semen With Special Reference To Its Fertility(Birsa Agricultural University, Ranchi, 2006) Pankaj Kumar Sinha; Balraj SinghStudy was conducted on and 6 Cocks of Aseel breed and 180 Desi hens maintained at Avian Research and Development centre , Ranchi Veterinary college, Ranchi. Semen was collected by massage method and insemination was done by tuberculin syringe. Two types of semen diluters namely normal saline solution and Ringer’s solution were used. Overall mean with S.E. of efaculation time and various seminal attributes in cocks recorded were as follows 1. Ejaculation Time:73.88+_1.43 Second 2. Volume of semen: 0.3+0.02ml 3. Motility percentage: 88.72+.44 4. Sperm concentration :2.54+0.11 million 5. Live sperm percentage :89.67+.33 6. Normal sperm percentage :93.61+.36 7. Negative correlation was found between ejaculation time and volume of semen Cock wise fertility rate of Normal saline solution diluted semen varied from 37.50 to 68.75 percent with an overall mean value of 60.42 percent. Cock wise fertility rate of Ringer’s solution diluted semen varied from 80.64 to 93.93 percent with and overall mean value of 88.48 percent. Cock wise fertility rate in natural mating varied from 37.50 to 63.63 percent with an overall mean valur of 52.88 percent. Fertility rate was highest 88.48% with Ringer’s solution diluted semen. Highly significant difference (p<0.01) in fertility rate between normal saline solution diluted semen and Ringer’s diluted semen and also between Ringer’s solution diluted semen and natural mating. Day wise variation in egg fertility was found subsequent to insemination normal saline solution diluted semen, Ringer’s solution diluted semen and with natural mating but C.D. value indicated non –significant difference in variation of fertility rate from first to seventh day.
