Abstract: The present investigation entitled “Effect of different organic sources on growth, yield and quality of rainfed maize (Zea mays L.) + Guava (Psidium guajava L.) based agri-horti system” was conducted during rainy (kharif) season of 2015 at the Agricultural Research Farm of Rajiv Gandhi South Campus, Banaras Hindu University, Barkachha, and Mirzapur. The experiment was conducted in three years old guava orchard planted at 7 x 7 meter spacing. The experiment was layout in split plot design with agri-horti system (fruit based agro forestry system) i.e. Guava based agri-horti system. Treatments were replicated thrice. The experiment comprises 16 treatment combinations. Crop response to the treatments were measured in term of various quantitative indices, viz plant height, number of green leaves plant-1, chlorophyll content, dry matter production plant-1, days to 50% tasseling, and silking, final plant stand, as well as yield attributes viz. number of cobs plant-1 length of cob (cm), girth of cob (cm), number of grains cob-1, selling %, test weight (g) and finally grain and stover yield (q ha-1) were taken. NPK uptake by grain and stover were also noted. Economics of treatment viz. net return and benefit cast ratio were work out. Application of organic source and biofertilizer in vermicompost, PSB and Azotobacter in maize plot was found suitable to realize the high yield and profit in guava tree + maize agri- horty system. The maize vermicompost (FYM) as RDN was found highly productive and remunerative as compared to other treatment and control under agro climatic conditions of Vindhyan region of India.
