Abstract: The present study entitled “Performance of cultivars and nitrogen levels on pearl millet production under guava based agri-horti system” was carried out in Kharif season of 2013 at the research farm of Rajiv Gandhi South Campus, Barkachha, Banaras Hindu University, Mirzapur. The experiment was laid out in RBD (factorial) with four levels of nitrogen (0, 60, 90 and 120 kg N ha-1) and cultivars (Pioneer 86M86, Kaveri Super Boss and ICTP-8203). Data on growth parameters viz. plant height, number of tillers, plant leaf count, crop dry matter accumulation and intermodal count were recorded at the different stages of plant growth of pearl millet crop under Agri-horti system. Yield characters viz. number of panicle, length of panicle, girth of panicle, number of grains panicle-1, test weight, grain and straw yield ha-1 were recorded. On the basis of present experiment the most suitable cultivar may be Pioneer 86M86 with a grain yield of 2055 kg ha-1 and maximum nitrogen content (1.97 %) and uptake (28.51 kg ha-1) in grain as well as recorded maximum net return (50598.45 Rs./ha) and B:C ratio (2.69) under guava based agri-horti system. Application of 120 kg N ha-1 would be higher grain yield of 2094.44 kg ha-1 but it was statistically at par with 90 120 kg N ha-1. The maximum nitrogen content (2.31 %) and uptake (33.46 kg ha-1) was recorded with 120 kg N ha-1. The maximum net return(50486 Rs./ha) and B:C ratio (2.63) was recorded with 120 kg N ha-1 but it was statistically at par with 90 kg N ha-1 under guava based agri-horti system.
