Abstract: The present investigation entitled “Effect of nitrogen and zinc fertilizer on yield and nutrient content in pearl millet under guava based agri-horti system” was conducted in Kharif season of 2012 at the research farm of Rajiv Gandhi South Campus, Barkachha, Banaras Hindu University, Mirzapur. The experiment was laid out in RBD (factorial) with five levels of nitrogen (0, 20, 40, 60 and 80 kg N ha-1) and three levels of zinc (0, 5 and 10 kg ha-1). Data on growth parameters viz. plant height, number of tillers, and crop dry matter accumulation, were recorded at the different stages of plant growth of pearl millet crop under agri-horti system. Yield characters viz. number of panicle, length of panicle, girth of panicle, number of grains panicle-1, test weight, grain and straw yield hectare-1 were recorded. On the basis of experimentation the most suitable nitrogen levels for pearl millet under agri-horti system may be 60 kg N ha-1 with higher grain yield (1497.32 kg ha-1), nitrogen (1.66%) and zinc (12.65 mg kg-1) content in grain, net return (Rs. 11702.59) and B:C ratio (0.629%) as it was statistically at par with 80 kg N ha-1. Application of 5 kg N ha-1 would be economical for pearl millet under agri-horti system with grain yield (1419.53 kg ha-1), nitrogen (1.54%) and zinc content (11.55 mg kg-1) in grain, net return (Rs. 10457.22) and B:C ratio (0.564) as it was statistically at par with 10 kg Zn ha-1.
