Abstract: The present investigation entitled “Effect of nitrogen and zinc levels on growth, yield and zinc content of pearl millet under guava based agri-horti system” was conducted in Kharif season of 2011 at the research farm of Rajiv Gandhi South Campus, Barkachha, Banaras Hindu University, Mirzapur. The experiment was laid out in RBD (factorial) with four levels of nitrogen (0, 20, 40 and 60 kg N ha-1) and zinc (0, 5 and 10 kg ha-1). Data on growth parameters viz. plant height, number of tillers, plant leaf count, crop dry matter accumulation, internodal count and internodal length were recorded at the different stages of plant growth of pearl millet crop under Agri-horti system. Yield characters viz. number of panicle, length of panicle, girth of panicle, number of grains panicle-1, test weight, grain and straw yield hectare-1 were recorded. On the basis of present experiment the most suitable dose of N may be 60 kg ha-1 with a grain yield of 2109.70 kg ha-1 and maximum zinc content (0.18 %) as well as B:C ratio of 1.13 % under guava based agrihorti-system. Application of 10 kg Z ha-1 would be economical for pearl millet with higher grain yield of 2039.59 kg ha-1, maximum zinc content in grain (0.17 %) and maximum (1.16 %) B:C ratio.
