Abstract: The study was conducted on natural resource management by farmers under IFS approach during 2014-15 in Gulbarga and Raichur districts of Karnataka state with 120 IFS farmers as the sample. The study revealed that, over one third (35.00%) of IFS farmers followed crop production + dairy + vermicompost farming system followed by crop production + sheep rearing + vegetables (28.00 %). Whereas least number of IFS farmers were following crop production+ dairy + vegetables (20.00 %) followed by crop production+ poultry+ agro-forestry (13.33%) and crop production + sheep rearing + poultry + vermicompost (8.33 %). The study revealed that, a considerable per cent (44.16%) of IFS farmers had medium level of awareness about natural resources management practices, whereas, 30.83 per cent and 25.00 per cent IFS farmers had low and high level of awareness. The study revealed that, nearly half (44.16%) of the IFS farmers had medium level of knowledge about natural resource management practices, while, 31.66 and 24.16 per cent IFS farmers had low and high level of knowledge, respectively. 45.00 per cent of IFS farmers belonged to medium adoption level category, followed by 35.83 per cent and 19.16 per cent of IFS farmers were belonged to low and high adoption categories, respectively. Majority of IFS farmers were middle aged (70.00%), educated up to primary school (48.33%), owned land between 2.6 to 5.0 acres (69.16%),were under high income category (76.67%), belonged to small family size (80.83%), medium level of cropping intensity and extension contact (51.66%), achievement motivation (49.16%) and scientific orientation (45.00%), respectively.
