Abstract: Present study was conducted to know the impact of radio programmes on farmers in Raichur district of Karnataka during 2013-14. Data was collected by personal interview method from 120 radio listeners using pre-tested standardized interview schedule. The collected data was analyzed using suitable and appropriate statistical tools. Majority of the respondents belonged to middle age with education up to middle school. Majority of the radio listeners belonged to medium to low extension orientation category with semimedium size of land holding. Majority of the radio listeners had medium to low level of risk orientation and scientific orientation. Two-third of the respondents purchased radio sets before establishment of AIR Raichur. A large majority of the respondents listened Aakashvani. A large majority of the respondents were believed that the broadcasted radio information is accurate and practical. More than half of the respondents (56.67 %) used radio information to maximum extent for better understanding of the agricultural practices. Majority of radio listeners discuss the farm radio programme ‘always’ with family members (66.67 %) and relatives (51.67 %) in ‘Sometimes’ with scientist (46.67 %). Nearly one third of the listener preferred the live phone in agricultural and allied sector programmes as a method of presentation. Majority of the listeners gave priority to live phone in programmes (45.83 %) and progressive farmer interviews (41.67 %). Among home programme gelayara balaga (46.67 %), radio doctor (45.00 %) where in order of regularity in listening. Nearly two third of the respondents preferred evening (58.33%) for most convenient time for broadcast of the agricultural programmes. Lack of market information was the major constraint experienced by majority of listeners for effective listening of radio programmes. Increasing the duration of agricultural programme was the major suggestion given by majority of radio listeners for effective radio listening.
