Abstract: The land is a most important and basic natural resource, must be carefully manage and conserve essentially for the future use. The land is a factor of production which is of immense important natural resource. Land utilization involve the modification and management of the land such as arable field, pasture land and barren land. Land use practices have a major impact on natural resource including water, soil nutrient, plant, soil los and, agriculture production. In view of the above a study on development of land utilization plan based on farming situation was carried out to the two blocks (Kunkuri and Pathalgaon) of Jashpur District in Chhattisgarh. Soul samples from the two different locations were taken for the study blocks and analyzed to find out physio-chemical properties for categorized soil and its oder in to four groups i.e. Entisols, Inseptisols, Alfysols and Vertisols. Various thematic maps were prepared for different soil parameters. Soil moisture depletion pattern of both the blocks were plotted. based on NDSI method. using Sentinel-2A data of year 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018. The result of moisture depletion revealed that during the year 2018 were more fluctuated as compare to remaining three years. The Multi Criteria Evaluation (MCE) approach is used for the characterization of farming situation. Various thematic maps such as NDSI, slope, LULC and Soil texture map was used for the characterization and delineation of farming situation. The result of MCE revealed that four orders of farming situation were categorized for both the blocks (Kunkuri and Pathalgaon) such as Bhata, Matasi, Dorsa and Kanhar. In case of Kunkuri block the area under Matasi and Dorsa was found to be highest (106km2)followed by Bhata(98km2) and Kanhar (84km2).Similarly in case of Pathalgaon blockthe area under Dorsawas found to be highest (208 km2)followed by Matasi(193km2),Kanhar (161km2) and Bhata (113km2). On the basis of result of this study water resources planning based on farming situation have been done for both the blocks. Standard procedure was adopted to identified the appropriate locations for surface water storage ponds and groundwater recharge structures. Total 41 and 49 numbers of check dams; 127 and 141 numbers of farm ponds can be proposed, respectively for Kunkuri and Pathalgaon blocks of Jashpur district of Chhattisgarh.
