Abstract: Oestrus synchronization of bovines — An impact evaluation was carried out to ascertain the impact of the scheme named “Genetic Upgradation of Cattle and Buffaloes in Tamil Nadu: Adoption of Oestrus Synchronization Technique to Improve Productive and Reproductive Potential” with the objectives - to explore the status and coverage of the oestrus synchronization programme in bovines; to assess the effect of oestrus synchronization on the conception rate; and to evaluate the impact of oestrus synchronization in terms of calf births and milk production. Multistage sampling was adopted for this study. A total of 100 beneficiaries and 50 non beneficiaries were chosen from two scheme implemented districts, by random sampling technique.
