Abstract: ABSTRACT A field experiment was conducted at IFS Unit, E and F block of MARS Farm, Raichur during Kharif, 2011 to study the effect of nutrient management under integrated farming system in hybrid maize (Zea mays L.). There were 14 treatments comprising of organic, inorganic and combinations of organic and inorganic manures. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Application of IFS manure (5 t/ha) + V.C. (2.5 t/ha) + 125% RDF per ha recorded significantly higher grain (79.13 q ha-1) and stover yield (110 q ha-1) when compared to RDF (58.33 and 75.07 q ha-1) and RDF + FYM (68.10 and 95 q ha-1). The higher grain and stover yield of maize with the application of IFS manure (5 t/ha) + V.C. (2.5 t/ha) + 125% RDF per ha was attributed to significantly higher growth and yield components. Significantly higher uptake of nitrogen (198.33 kg ha-1), Phosphorous (52 kg ha-1) and potassium (179.67 kg ha-1) recorded in the treatment received IFS manure (5 t/ha) + V.C. (2.5 t/ha) + 125% RDF per ha when compared to RDF (124, 33 and 103 kg N, P and K ha-1 respectively) and RDF + FYM (184.67, 45.67 and 161 kg N, P and K ha-1). Application of IFS manure (5 t/ha ) + V.C. (2.5 t/ha) + 125% RDF per ha recorded maximum cost of cultivation (Rs. 27,029 ha-1 ) and gross returns (Rs. 81,333 ha-1 ) but, significantly higher net returns (Rs.58,211 ha-1) was with the application of IFS manure (5 t/ha) + P.M. (2.5 t/ha) + 125%RDF per ha and B:C ratio (4.06) was with the application of RDF 150:75:40 kg NPK ha-1. As a part of the experiment, the available quantity of organic manures obtained from the livestock components of IFS are on dry weight basis was 7.1, 1.1, 4.2 and 0.38 t from bullocks, goat unit, cow and poultry birds respectively.
