Abstract: The present study involves analysis of ova diameter, gonadosomatic index, fecundity, length at first maturity, gonadal development and condition factor of Oncorhynchus mykiss (rainbow trout) collected on monthly basis from three state owned trout fish farms, namely Mammar Trout Fish Farm, District Ganderbal, Dachigam Trout Fish Farm, District Srinagar and Achabal Trout Fish Farm, District Anantnag. The ova diameter analysis of O. mykiss revealed a significant difference (p <0.01) between the ova diameter measurements for the three sites. A unimodal distribution of ova was observed in the fish. There was synchronous development of the oocytes suggesting the fish to be an iteroparous total spawner. Descriptive statistics of total length, total weight, gonad weight and GSI showed significant difference at the three sampling sites (p < 0.05). The results of gonadosomatic index for the pooled data revealed minimum value of 1.60% in August and maximum value of 15.05% in December. The gonadosomatic index (site-wise) revealed maximum value of 21.39% at Dachigam in January. The spawning season of the fish commences from December. Absolute fecundity was estimated at 1204 to 2600 eggs and relative fecundity at 3.502 to 10.855 eggs per gram of body weight. The highest value of fecundity (2600 eggs) was observed at Dachigam site. A positive correlation was observed between fecundity and fish length (R2= 0.704), fish weight (R2= 0.599), ovary weight (R2= 0.662) and ovary length (R2= 0.559). The length at first maturity recorded was at 28.7cm. Histological studies showed mature ovaries in the month of November, immature ovaries in the month of August and spent ovaries in the month of January. The highest condition factor (K) for the pooled data was obtained in the month of September (1.33) while the lowest value was obtained in the month of November (1.10). Site-wise, the highest condition factor was observed at Mammar in the month of October (1.48) and lowest K value was observed at Dachigam in the month of November (0.96). The fishes were in better condition at Mammar than at Achabal and Dachigam.
