Abstract: This study was carried out to assess the effect of replacing cotton seed cake (CSC) with guar korma meal (GKM) in concentrate mixture on performance, serum metabolite concentration, immune response, monthly faecal egg count and economics of calf production. Twenty four Red Kandhari calves were divided in four equal groups. All the animals were offered a Jowar straw based diets consisting of concentrate @ 0% CSC replaced with GKM (T0), 50 % CSC replaced with GKM (T1), 75% CSC replaced with GKM (T2), 100 % CSC replaced with GKM (T3). It was observed that DM intake (g/d) and body weight gain was significantly (P<0.05) higher in T1 compared with control. However the DCP (g/d) intake was significantly lower (P<0.05) in T3 when compared with control, T1 and T2. Results of digestibility trial showed that there were no significant difference (P>0.05) in digestibility of DM, OM, CP, CF and NFE among the treatment groups. The Hb, PCV, total protein, albumin, globulin, A:G and BUN were significantly higher (P<0.01) in T1 followed T0 (0%GKM), T2 and T3. Monthly faecal egg count decreased significantly (P<0.05) in GKM supplemented groups T1 and followed by T2, T3 and T0. The highest net profit was recorded in T1 followed by T0, T2 and T3 respectively. It was concluded that the guar meal could be added upto 50% to replace cotton seed cake in concentrate mixture without any adverse effect on feed intake, nutrient utilization, blood metabolite concentration and cell mediated immune response; along with significant reduction in gastro-intestinal parasites and improving net profit of Red Kandhari calf production.
