Abstract: An experimental study was conducted on local does to study various estrus synchronization protocols on various parameters. A total of 100 does were divided into 5 groups with 20 does in each group. Group - I served as untreated control and termed as “Control” group, group II does were administered double PGF 2α injection @ 125μg IM with an interval of 12 days apart, group III does were implanted with vaginal sponges impregnated with progesterone for 12 days continuously. All the sponges were removed after 12 days, group IV does were implanted with vaginal sponges for a period of 12 days and at the time of removal of sponges all the does of this group were given a dose of PMSG (Folligon) @ 300 IU IM and group V does were implanted with intra-vaginal sponges for 12 days and 300 IU of PMSG was injected IM at the time of removal of sponges and GnRH (Receptal) 10 μg at the time of breeding. Comparison was made on different parameters between the groups on different days of treatment. The mean values of TEC, Hb, total protein, glucose, calcium and phosphorus did not differ significantly between the control group and the groups of does received estrus synchronization protocols. There was significant (P<0.05) increase in the concentration of progesterone in groups 2, 3, 4 and 5 were compared to control group - I. The per cent (%) does responded for synchronization of estrus was 30, 70, 60, 80 and 95, respectively in groups I, II, III, IV and V and there was a significant (P<0.05) difference among the groups. The time (hrs) taken for induction of onset of estrus 63.07 ± 0.822, 40.73 ± 0.206, 24.15 ± 0.251, 35.45 ± 0.245 and 22.77 ± 0.275, respectively groups I, II, III, IV and V. The mean duration of estrus (hrs) was 19.25 ± 0.340, 31.10 ± 0.198, 28.29 ± 0.465, 26.27 ± 0.647 and 34.28 ± 0.497, respectively in groups I, II, III, IV and V and there was statistically significant (P<0.05) difference in the treated groups of does when compared to the untreated does (control). The pregnancy rate (%) was 33.33, 64.28, 75.00, 81.25 and 84.21, respectively in groups I, II, III, IV and V. The Kidding rate (%) was 33.33, 78.57, 91.66, 106.25 and 126.31, respectively in groups I, II, III, IV and V. The litter size was 1.00, 1.22, 1.22, 1.30 and 1.50, respectively in groups I, II, III, IV and V. The per cent (%) of twining rate of does in control was 0.00, 18.18, 18.18, 23.52 and 33.33, respectively in groups I, II, III, IV and V. The pregnancy rate, kidding rate, litter size and twinning rate were higher in does treated with different estrus synchronization protocols as compared to control group - I. In conclusion, results of the present investigation revealed that estrus traits and reproductive performance was found that protocol of group V, in which the does were implanted with intra-vaginal sponges for 12 days and 300 IU of PMSG was injected intramuscularly at the time of removal of sponges and 10 μg of GnRH (Receptol) at the time of breeding, was the best followed by group 4, in which the does were implanted with vaginal sponges for a period of 12 days and at the time of removal of sponges all the does were given a dose of PMSG (Folligon) @ 300 IU intramuscularly.
