Abstract: The present experiment entitled “Response of drip fertigation, intra row seeding of legume and planting geometry on Soil health, productivity and net return of summer maize” was conducted at Research Farm, Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Raipur (C.G.) during summer season 2016. The experiment was laid out in strip plot design with six fertigation and intra row cowpea as vertical strips and three planting geometry as horizontal strips with eighteen treatment combinations. The treatments consisted of drip fertigation at 100% RDF (F1), drip fertigation at 125 % RDF(F2), Surface irrigation (furrow) at 100 % RDF(F3), drip fertigation at 100 % RDF+ intra row cowpea (F4), drip fertigation at 125 % RDF + intra row cowpea(F5), surface irrigation (furrow) at 100 % RDF + intra row cowpea(F6) and plant geometry of 30 x 20 cm, 45 x 20 cm (S2) and 60 x 20 cm (S3). Maize MM2562 hybrid was taken as test crop. The results of experiment on response of drip fertigation and cowpea and planting geometry revealed that all the growth parameters like plant height, number of leaves plant-1, leaf area, leaf area index, stem girth, dry matter accumulation and crop growth rate, yield attributes i.e. number of cobs plant-1, number of row cob-1, number of grains cob-1, test weight, grain and stover yield, net return (Rs.56509 ha-1) and B : C (Rs.1.26 Rs.-1 invested) ratio were significantly higher under drip fertigation at 125% RDF and cowpea which was statistically similar with drip fertigation 125% RDF and drip fertigation 100% RDF with cowpea. Remarkable lowest values were obtained in surface irrigation (furrow) 100% RDF. Similarly all these characters were also superior with planting geometry at 60 x 20 cm which was statistically similar with planting geometry 45 x 20 cm. Among the different interaction combinations of fertigation and cowpea and planting geometry, significantly highest grain yield of summer maize was found in summer maize planted at 60 x 20 cm and acquire drip fertigation at 125% RDF with cowpea.
