Abstract: The present investigation entitled, "Effect of plant growth regulator on stooling in pomegranate [Punica granatum L.)" was conducted in Nurseryof Instructional-cum-Research Orchard, Department of Horticulture, Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri-413 722, Dist. Ahmednagar during the year 1995-96. The study was carried out with 12 combinations of plant growthregulators viz. IBA 500 ppm + NAA 400 ppm,IBA 500 ppm + NAA 600ppm, IBA 500 ppm + NAA 800 ppm, IBA 1000 ppm + NAA 400 ppm, IBA1000 ppm + NAA 600 ppm,IBA 1000 ppm + NAA 800 ppm,IBA 1500 ppm+ NAA 400 ppm, IBA 1500 ppm + NAA 600 ppm,IBA 1500 ppm + NAA 800ppm,IBA 2000 ppm + NAA 400 ppm,IBA 2000 ppm + NAA 600 ppm, IBA2000 ppm + NAA 800 ppm, with control as no application of growth regulator.Overall 13 treatments were taken in study which were replicatedthrice in randomized block design. It is revealed from the observation thatthe treatment combination 1500 ppm IBA + 800 ppm NAA was uperiorover all other combinations. This treatment was found to be the best inrespect of the characters studied viz., length of main shoot, diameter ofshoot, number and length of primary and secondary roots, fresh and dryweight of roots and shoot and survival. The survival of the stool layer after hardening for 30 and 60 days was 97.33 per cent and 93.33 per cent,respectively with 30.67 per cent in control. herefore, this combination beused for stooling in pomegranate economically, provided the mother plantshould be planted at closer spacing of 60 x 60 cm
