Abstract: Tuenty-five dolichos bean cultivars obtained from different geographic regions were screened for variability in qualitative and quantitative characters. Significant differences were observed among the dolichos bean cultivars in respect of both qualitative and quantitative characters indicating a high magnitude of variability in the genotypes under study. The estimates of GCV were low as compared to PCV. Very high estimates of heritability (Broad sense) were obtained for the character average weight of 100-green pods (99.97 %) followed by number of pods per plant (99.87 %), yield of pods (99.70 %) and average weight of green seeds (99.70 %). High heritability values with high genetic advance were observed for the characters yield of pods per plant, number of pods per plant and average weight of 100- green pods. Evidently, these characters had predominance of additive genetLc variance and hence may respond favourably to selection.
